Update: This 5-hour and 51-minute video course is now live at lynda.com. If you get a chance to watch it, please let me know what you think!
This coming Tuesday (September 27 October 4, 2011), my beloved video publisher lynda.com releases the last in my four-course series on 3D in Photoshop, titled Photoshop Extended One-on-One: 3D Type Effects. In this course, I show you how to create a total of seven 3D type effects—all covering different disciplines, design needs, and approaches—entirely in Photoshop and altogether from scratch.
Watch the above movie for more info.
Meanwhile, if a picture is worth 1,000 words, here are 7,000:
For example, this one’s a poster for a vintage murder-mystery movie.
Hand-drawn glory type.
Cable-length, twisting, I-beam extrusions. Coming out through smoke, no less.
The marquee for a once-popular but now-dead bar, rendered in alleyway grunge.
A child’s much-loved pillow letters.
Outlined comic-book letters, rendered as depth maps.
And finally, 3D type carved into a tree.
I hope you’re excited. I know I am. All available Tuesday, Oct. 4, at lynda.com.
Gosh, Deke, you did it
Gosh, Deke, you did it again! I can’t wait to learn new stuff from you, Deke-style!
OMG
Best text effects I have ever seen!
Very nice work Deke!
Where is it then Deke?
Where is it then Deke?
Where is it?
I signed up for the trial and to see your type effects and I can’t find them? Where are they?

My screw up
It’s set to release this coming Tuesday, Oct. 4.
My apologies. I had my dates wrong.
Ray tracing question
I upgraded my Photoshop CS5 to Extended version, and I’ve been watching your video’s, which are great by the way. I saw that when you did the ray tracing, the blue grid thingy is huge, something like 5x5 squares and even bigger sometimes, but mine is just 2x2 squares, why is that so? Does that mean that my computer sucks or something, so it just can’t do any better than that?
re:My Latest Video Course
I like to have a break during the my day and browse via some blogs to see what others are saying. This blog appeared in my search and I couldn’t help but clicking on it. I am glad I did because it was a very enjoyable read.
