Thank you for being part of our community in 2019. This year we end with a completely revamped Photoshop 2020 One-on-One: Fundamentals course, an exploration of the new Photoshop for the iPad in Deke’s Techniques, and a sad but sweet farewell to a good friend.
It’s that wonderful time of the year when we receive a new version of Photoshop to explore, critique, and celebrate. Last week, Adobe announced Photoshop 2020 to the world, and Deke’s got a new course at LinkedIn Learning to ensure even the most seasoned Photoshopper doesn’t miss out on any of the great improvements.
Welcome to Deke’s Endless Summer, my darling dekeErmelons! In this edition, we bring news of Deke’s new course updates, a father-and-son endeavor over on YouTube, a summer of endless pattern making, and a wave from under the sea.
After Deke spent two weeks in the studio working on the Illustrator CC Fundamentals update and a round of new Deke’s Techniques episodes, we headed to San Diego to do some drysuit training for cold water scuba diving. Trying to embrace the cold seems appropriate for this chilly January, but our hearts are as warm as ever whenever we’re with the dekeFamily. (If you’re reading this, that means you.) As you know, if you’ve been hanging about dekeLand for a while, Halloween is Deke’s favorite holiday. So it seems only appropriate that Deke not only has a new candy-plus-skeleton episode of Deke’s Techniques, but he also has a new course on Photoshop Channels and Masks with his new benign overlords at LinkedIn Learning. And we’ve got a whole archive of Halloween-related projects that Deke has shared throughout the years.
In this special edition newsletter, we're covering the latest version of Photoshop, released just last week. Yup, there's a new Photoshop in town. And your trusty pal Deke is at hand to make introductions, ready to give you a heads up on what's exciting and what's disorienting about it.
We're in California this month, where Deke is recording at the good old Lynda/LinkedIn HQ of his youth (more on that below). In between visits from our various offspring, Deke's been hard at work updating the Photoshop Channels and Masks course of his youth. Meanwhile, we're celebrating the completion of both the Photoshop and Illustrator One-on-One series by sharing some sizzling samples in this month's missive.
